WPT Young Musician of the Year 2021

Students from across Wickersley Partnership Trust’s primary and secondary schools are invited to enter ‘WPT Young Musician of the Year 2021’. Here’s everything you need to know about the competition:

Junior Categories
In the junior categories, performances must consist of a minimum of one piece –

Solo instrumental (KS1)
Solo vocal (KS1 Junior)
Solo instrumental (KS2)
Solo vocal (KS2)

Open class for performances without music

Senior Categories
In the senior categories, performances must consist of two pieces in contrasting styles, which may be differing movements of the same composition.

Performances should not exceed 10 minutes.
In the final, students must perform at least two different pieces/songs –

Solo instrumental (Y7 – 9)
Solo vocal (Y7 – 9)
Solo instrumental (Y10 – 13)
Solo vocal (Y10 – 13)

Open class for performances without music

Judging
There will be three adjudicators judging each performance on its:
• Melodic & rhythmic accuracy
• Intonation
• Tempo & flow
• Tone
• Mood & character
• Engagement with the audience

To enter, entry forms, recordings and sheet music must be sent to sbingham@wickersleypt.org.

Winners of each category and the overall winner of the WPT Young Musician of the Year will be awarded a certificate and trophy.

Closing Dates:
First round – 17th May 2021
Final round – 25th June 2021
