Y8 Visit the New York Stadium

Yesterday Year 8 students from Thrybergh Academy visited the New York Stadium.

The purpose of the event was to introduce our Year 8 students to the different types of careers that are involved within Rotherham United, have an encounter with employers and employees, and have an experience of a different place of work.

The students arrived at the New York Stadium to be greeted at the main reception and directed to the Players’ Lounge where staff members Kirsty Maxey, Jonathan Gilberthorpe, Colan Leung and Sam Parkin introduced themselves, and went on to talk more about their role and their department. Jonathan Allan also provided an overview of RUCST.

After this, the students held an interview panel with the staff to ask questions they had prepared earlier on.

At break, the students were directed to the Youth & Employability Hub. They were then split into 2 groups to visit the museum with Jade Burge, and experience the stadium tour with Ben Bagshaw.

We’d like to give a special mention to Jill Kay from ASD Lighting for making this event happen, to James Mahoney at Rotherham United for the organisation of the session, and the guest speakers that engaged with our students. They had a fantastic morning!
