During week six of Science Club, the students investigated the use of polymers in everyday household products, following on from the Superheroes theme two weeks ago!
The students had three activities to complete:
⭐ Polymer nappies, where the students cut up a nappy to find the super absorbent synthetic polymer called hydrogel, they then reacted it with water to see how they work.
⭐ Polymer hair gel, which they reacted with some water and covered with some salt to see the reaction and formation of the polymer hydrogel.
⭐ Finally, the students used their knowledge from previous activities to understand how the polymer reacts when reacted with the chemical Borax, creating polymer in slime.
Well done to all the students who came along this week, and enjoyed the various challenges to produce some good results. We look forward to seeing you again next week, when we look at Halloween activities!
